Khandaker Halimuzzaman, born: 14th February 1961. Father: Late Khandaker Nuruzzaman, Mother: Late Helena Begum. Born in his home in West Majampur, Kushtia district. He was the second child among his parents’ eight children. In 1980, before completing his studies, he started working at the British Tobacco Company (BTC), now British American Tobacco (BAT). In 1983, he married Saleha Zaman, the second daughter of the late Nizam Pramanik, a resident of Gobindapur, Mirpur Upazila, Kushtia District. In the middle of his career, he established an engineering company called Sony Engineering Works in 1999. Through this company, he started contracting work in various tobacco processing companies across Bangladesh. After retiring from his job at (BAT) in 2008, he started full-time contracting work in tobacco processing companies. Sony Engineering Works founder Khandaker Halimuzzaman and his wife Saleha Zaman have four children. The eldest is Roksana Yasmin, the second is Atikur Zaman, the 3rd is Khandaker Akatuzzaman, and the youngest is Tanmina Akhter Athoy. Khandaker Halimuzzaman passed away on Saturday, January 15, 2022.
